Unprivileged children and young people are to be given free holiday activities after a generous donation by ACE Sameday Couriers to Derby County Community Trust.
The Trust currently offers full-day sports-based courses during school holidays for primary-aged children across Derbyshire.
Schools and Coaching Manager, Rich Mansfield, said: “Holiday periods can be challenging for children and young people who may not be able to access activities because of their cost or transport availability.
This funding from ACE Sameday Couriers will allow us to remove these barriers and ensure they can have the same fulfilling experiences as others.
“We will work with the children to see if they have further skills or interests we could develop, whether through our own provision or by linking up with partners who can offer music workshops, arts or cultural trips.”
The Castle Donington-based ACE Sameday Couriers deliver in Derby, Birmingham, Nottingham, Loughborough and Mansfield.
Business Development Manager, Chris Scothern, added: “We are delighted to sponsor DCCT and to be able to help children who require support to benefit from the type of holiday activities they might have previously struggled to access.
“Activity sessions offer a fun day out, form lasting memories, spark friendships and uncover hidden talents and should be accessible to everyone.
“Derby County Community Trust does so much valuable work within the city and wider county and we are incredibly proud to be able to support it in the launch of this new scheme. We hope it is a great success.”
Derby County Community Trust will ensure that places are available at each holiday coaching course in Derby from Easter 2020.
