Disability Direct is a charity born from the idea of one man who noticed a need for good reliable information for disabled people in Derby back in 1993. The charity grew quickly securing new funding and grants and is now one of the biggest user-led organisations in the East Midlands.
They have set up several Social Enterprises, that not only support people in Derby but across the whole country; the payroll service being one of them, which is helping people from the length and breadth of the UK, from Newcastle in the north to Kent in the south.
Even though Disablity Direct has had to evolve over the years, their ethos has stayed the same throughout this time in providing a personalised, individual service to anyone who needs support.
They have already answered over 100,000 enquiries in the last 25 years and although their projects change over time, their mission statement remains.
Our challenge was to help raise the profile of the charity locally, regionally and, if possible, nationally. Not only to provide the media with newsworthy stories but to appeal to much-needed funding partners.
Black & White have worked closely to forge a strong understanding of the amazing work that Disability Direct deliver not only in Derby and Derbyshire but further afield too.
The result is that we have achieved a lot of media coverage which has not only increased significantly the profile of Disability Direct but also enabled them to attract funders from across the UK.
